The Holy
Pascha (The Resurrection of Our
Lord) Liturgy is a celebration that
began at the Great Vigil the night
before and continues throughout the
day. In it, our Lord proclaims to us
that we are rescued from sin as we
are joined with Christ in His death
and resurrection. It includes the
proclamation of the Word and the
Holy Eucharist. At Redeemer, we also
have baptisms and an Easter
breakfast as many use their gifts to
give thanks to our Lord for His
mercy and goodness.

The Great Vigil of Easter's lavish
Liturgy includes the lighting of the
Paschal candle, a review of the
salvation story, baptisms,
confirmations, baptismal
remembrance, the return of the
Alleluia, the preaching of the Word
and the celebration of the Holy
Eucharist. The Great Vigil of Easter
is the first Liturgy of the third
day of the Holy Triduum/ Three Days.

Saturday, April 14th, 2012

Good Friday's profound Liturgy
includes the reading of Isaiah's
servant song, a reading from Hebrews
and the Passion of our Lord Jesus
Christ according to St. John acted
out dramatically as it is read. The
Liturgy includes prayers for the
whole world and the veneration of
the Holy Cross while great hymns of
the Church are sung by the assembly.
Good Friday is the second day of the
the Holy Triduum/ Three Days.

Maundy Thursday's rich Liturgy
includes the preaching of the Word
of God, the washing of feet, the
forgiveness of sin, the extension of
peace, the celebration of the Word,
the celebration of the Holy
Eucharist and the stripping of the
altar as we remember Christ's being
deserted and stripped for us. Maundy
Thursday is the first day of the
Holy Triduum/ Three Days.

Redeemer was honored to host the
annual Atlantic District Chrism Mass
on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. In
addition to the blessing of the
oils, the Liturgy included the
renewal of commitment to pastoral
service. Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

Palm Sunday/Sunday of the Passion
2012 Liturgies included the blessing
of the palms, the Passion of Christ
according to St. Mark and the
celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
We also had a Palm Sunday parade
throughout the Wakefield section of
The Bronx. The parade, led primarily
by our Sunday School, involved
Redeemer parishioners giving out
palm branches and Holy Week Liturgy
schedules to people in the
neighborhood.

The St. Patrick's Day parade in
Yonkers was on Saturday, March 24,
2012. The Rev. Robert Boehler, the
Pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church
in Yonkers, was one of the official
"Aides" of the parade, having a
prominent place on the reviewing
stand. St. Mark's Lutheran Church
and School in Yonkers (our sister
parish) marched in the parade. Arts
In Mission (AIM), directed by our
Cantor--Dr. Jean Boehler--also
marched in the parade with
participants and supporters of that
program, many of whom are from
Redeemer. Pastor Taylor marched with
AIM ad greeted the participants and
bystanders.

LEGS had a Gentlemen's Breakfast on
March 10, 2012. The theme was "Being
Courageous Men." Commentary was
offered by Pastor Taylor. Many men
made a commitment to be courageous
in their vocations that day. Saturday,

2012, Col (RET) Melvin Butts
represented Redeemer by presenting
at the Multiethnic Symposium on Hope
at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis,
Missouri.

LIPS (Ladies In Prayer and Service)
celebrated 10 years of grace with
its annual luncheon in March of
2012. The theme was "Serving with
the Love of the Good Shepherd" and
the speaker was Ms Thelma Ruffin
Thomas. An ingathering was collected
with others from the Atlantic
District Lutheran Women's Missionary
League. People from Redeemer and
other parishes attended and enjoyed.

On Saturday, February 25, 2012, LCMS
Atlantic District President David H.
Benke, Pastor Paul Sauer, Pastor
Robert Boehler, Deaconess Rojas and
Pastor Taylor were invited to attend
a mid-morning prayer service and
reception in recognition of the
elevation of His Eminence Timothy
Cardinal Dolan as he leads the Roman
Catholic Archdiocese of New York.
The prayer service was at St.
Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan and
the reception was at the Sheraton

LIPS (Ladies In Prayer and Service) went
back to the Laconia Nursing Home in the
Bronx to bring gift bags with Bible
verses during December of 2011. LIPS
also went to the New York City Rescue
mission in 2012 to bring food,
toiletries and clothing to support this
