LIPS (Ladies In Prayer and Service) went to the Laconia Nursing Home in December of 2009 to bring Christmas gifts to the residents. The Word of God and hymns were shared as LIPS women encouraged residents to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 
The celebration of our Lord’s birth throughout the Christmas season in 2009 gave us opportunity to savor our Lord’s Word and cherish His Holy Supper.   Tuesday, January 19th, 2009  
We celebrated the Eve of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ in 2009 with a candlelight Liturgy. Deacon Gonzalez preached and Dr. Bayens celebrated the Holy Eucharist. "On the Move: God's Grace from Place to Place" was the Vacation Bible School theme in August, 2009. Participants learned about God's amazing grace gifted to us in Jesus Christ, celebrating with each other and leaders from the wider Church, including Atlantic District President David H. Deaconess Rojas taught "By God's Grace" during our November, 2009 60 Minutes educational session. A class for many different people, 60 Minutes provides opportunities for people to learn more about Christ. In November of 2009, Redeemer HEARTS (Here, Eager and Ready To Serve young adults' group) had a retreat at the Cardinal Spellman Retreat Center in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The theme was "Service before God and Service before the World."   Saturday, November 28th, 2009
Redeemer LEGS (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Service) completed a Habitat for Humanity project in September of 2009. Women from Redeemer LIPS (Ladies In Prayer and Service) and the Women's Guild attended the Lutheran Women's Missionary League Biennial Convention in Portland, Oregon (June, 2009). Cecile Walker, President of LIPS, was a voting delegate while Cheir Hardial-Pitamber and Annette Williamson were Young Women's Representatives. Mission projects, voting, convention business and fellowship were all part of joy of the convention, including time with LCMS President Gerald B. Members of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Bronx and St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yonkers came together for the installation of Pastor Robert Boehler in May of 2009. Redeemerites marched from Redeemer to St. Mark's to attend the afternoon Liturgy. St. Mark's building was full of pastors, commissioned ministers and many others, including District President David H. Benke who installed Pastor Boehler.   Wednesday, July 1st, 2009
The Rev. Jeffrey Thormodson and seminarians from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis came to Redeemer for a cross-cultural module and for the course, "The Holy Ministry in Urban Contexts" taught by Pastor Taylor in May and June of 2009. Members of Redeemer LIPS attended the Lutheran Women's Missionary League Convention of the SELC (Slovak Evangelical Lutheran Church) District of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. The Vigil of Pentecost in May of 2009 included the baptisms and confirmations of many teenagers. Redeemer was joined by Rev. Jeffrey Thormodson and seminarians from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. The seminarians were studying at Redeemer and throughout New York City as they completed their cross-cultural module and were completing a summer course taught in the Bronx called "The Holy Ministry in Urban Contexts." How blessed Concordia Seminary and Redeemer are as they continue to work together in the Kingdom!   Tuesday June 2nd, 2009
Sunday Schoolers at Redeemer dyed and decorated eggs to remember and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on the Second Sunday of Easter, 2009.   Monday, May 4th, 2009  
The Great Vigil of Easter was celebrated on April 11, 2009 at Redeemer. Many adults were baptized and confirmed. We gave thanks to God for our baptisms into Christ and for our new life in Him during the Eucharistic feast. Alleluia! Christ is risen!   Sunday, April 12th, 2009
The Atlantic District's Annual Chrism Mass was celebrated at Redeemer on Holy Tuesday of 2009. The Rev. Dr. David H. Benke, the President of the Atlantic District and the Pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, was the preacher and celebrant. District Vice-President Robert Hartwell (Senior Pastor of Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School in Bronxville), District Secretary Paul Sauer (Pastor of The Lutheran Church and School of Our Saviour in the Bronx) and Assistant to the President Deric Taylor (Associate Pastor of Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School in Bronxville) assisted in the Liturgy, in addition to many other pastors from the area.   Wednesday, April 8th, 2009
On March 29, 2009, Dr. David Hahn, the Headmaster of Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School in Brookville, New York, presented Redeemer with the Lutheran Crusader Fund Congregation of the Year Award during the 11AM Liturgy. Our Youth Group Winter Retreat to Camp Koinonia in February of 2009 had the theme, "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand," based on St. Mark 1:31. It was a great opportunity to cherish our Lord's reaching out to us to bring us healing and our reaching out to others with lives of service.   Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Our Sunday School Christmas program in 2008 was titled, "Promise Remembered, Covenant Kept." It gave us an opportunity to see God's saving work through time and how His promises to us are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.   Monday January 12th, 2009 
We celebrated the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh in 2008. During the Christmas Eve Liturgy, we gave thanks to God that He became one of us in order to save us.   Friday, December 26th 2008
During our final day of "Walk It Out" Vacation Bible School on the Feast of St. Bartholomew, Apostle (August 24, 2008), we received and shared God's gifts in the Liturgy in the newly renovated sanctuary. The day included the baptism of Justin Andre Wellington.  Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

We enjoyed growing in the Word of God during Vacation Bible School 2008. The theme was "Walk It Out: Together in the Way of Jesus." We especially enjoyed worshiping and learning in our newly renovated sanctuary.

We celebrated the Vigil of Pentecost at Redeemer on May 10, 2008. The Liturgy included four baptisms of teenagers and five confirmations of teenagers. We are so thankful for the Holy Spirit and for our young people!    Thursday, May 15th, 2008
On March 30, 2008, many of our Sunday School students and staff colored eggs as part of their learning about the new life that we have through Holy Baptism in Christ Jesus our Redeemer.   Monday, March 31st, 2008 
On March 30, 2008, Redeemer's Percussionist, Mr. Christopher Losee, presented a 60 Minutes Bible study entitled, "Christ: the Life of All the Living." With extensive use of Sacred Scripture, song, dance and readings from theologians, he described how Christians live when they die with Christ Jesus and rise with Him as they are witnessing the Living Christ.  Monday, March 31st, 2008 
Redeemer's Ladies In Prayer and Service (LIPS) celebrated its sixth anniversary with a special luncheon on March 29, 2008. The theme was "Celebrating and Sharing the Living Christ." Dr. LuJuana Butts was the speaker for the event and Redeemer DIVAS (Dancing In Victory And Song) danced during the meal time.  Monday, March 31st, 2008 
The Great Vigil of Easter--Holy Pascha-- in 2008 was an exciting time as many people became members of the Body of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit as we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

On Holy Tuesday, March 18, 2008, the Atlantic District Chrism Mass was celebrated at Redeemer (including the blessing of the oils of the catechumens, the oil of the sick and the Sacred Chrism).   Thursday, March, 20th 2008  
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Service had its sixth annual Gentlemen's Breakfast on March 8, 2008. The Rev. Marvin Griffin, Sr., the Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Queens Village, NY was the guest speaker. 
Our 2008 Youth Group Winter Retreat at Camp Koinonia was super. The theme was "Fast, Furious and Faithful" as we learned about fasting in the season of Lent and the faithfulness of God and His people in a fast and furious world.
The 20s/30s Group hosted a Bowling Night in January of 2008. It was an excellent Friday evening of fun and fellowship enjoyed by all. 
"Christ Is the Heart of Christmas" was the Christmas theme and Sunday School program at Redeemer in 2007. Young people and adults participated in the program held on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, relating how the forgiving love of Christ Jesus is the best gift we have ever received. 
Redeemer's 20s/30s Group hosted an apple-picking trip to Mill Neck Manor Lutheran School for the Deaf on the north shore of Long Island.  The beautiful grounds provided for a wonderful opportunity to enjoy God's creation in October, 2007.   Redeemer and Mill Neck enjoy a splendid partnership as we are both engaged in sharing the Good News of Jesus with all people. 
Redeemer's Homework Help continues to serve young people in our neighborhood by providing assistance with homework assignments and tutoring in academic subjects. 
Dr. LuJuana Butts, Professor of Education at Concordia College in Bronxville and a member of our parish, has begun teaching an exciting Post-Catechumenate Learning Experience in the fall of 2007. 
Redeemer LEGS (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Service) hosted a chicken legs sale at the end of each Liturgy in September of 2007. 
Redeemer rejoiced with our sisters and brothers of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manhattan at the installation of their new Pastor--The Rev. George Ramsudh.  His arrival is an answer to the prayers of God's people. 
Redeemer youth enjoyed a trip to Our Saviour for relay races and other fun in September, 2007. 
Some of our Redeemer men work outside on the removal of some trees after a storm in 2007. 
"That's Show Biz" was Diana Templeton's show in the fall of 2007.  The dessert theatre was sponsored by Redeemer's Women's Guild and, like other years, was a hit. 
Our LEGS (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Service) had a work day at Redeemer in September, preparing for the painting of our undercroft window wells. 
Our Friday morning Bible Study has been growing in the fall of 2007.  The course of study is Lutheran doctrine with respect to ecclesiology and reformation. 
Jimmy and Gladys Stewart celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in September of 2007. 
Three Redeemerites who are United States Veterans--Terence Sutherland, Melvin Butts and Bill Foster--pose in the front of the sanctuary as we celebrated Memorial Day, giving thanks for our many veterans.
From August 19-26, 2007 Redeemerites participated in Vacation Bible School.  The theme was Word Up!  Speaking and Living for Jesus.    The theme verse was John 1:1:  In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  We give thanks to our merciful God for the opportunity to receive, teach, celebrate and share Christ Jesus.    ALBUM 1  -  ALBUM 2  -  ALBUM 3  -  ALBUM 4  -  ALBUM 5
On Ascension Day, 2007, the children and youth of Redeemer received a special blessing.
Pastor led a Catechism Class for our younger members as they rigorously prepare to receive Jesus’ Body and Blood in 2007.
Vera Muller’s 90th birthday was an occasion for celebration in 2007.
Redeemerites are sent forth at the close of the Liturgy with God’s peace and in God’s joy. 
Redeemerites enjoyed the annual congregation retreat to Camp Koinonia in August, 2007.
Redeemerites studied the Smalcald Articles during the summer of 2007 as part of a study of the Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (the Book of Concord).
Redeemer's 20s/30s Group hosted a trip to Jones Beach in July of 2007 that included the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and "fun in the sun."
Redeemer's Homework Help sponsored a trip to the New York Hall of Science in Flushing, Queens during July of 2007.
International students from Korea, Japan, Italy and Spain who were studying at Concordia College in Bronxville during an intensive course came to Redeemer in July of 2007 for worship and fellowship.
The Youth Group of Faith Lutheran Church in Vista, California sent a Steve Urkel doll around the nation that arrived at Redeemer in June, 2007.  The Youth Group of Faith Lutheran Church wanted each youth group to take Steve to a famous place and photograph Steve with members of the youth group of that congregation.  Some from the Youth Group of Redeemer took Steve Urkel to the Bronx Zoo for a photo opportunity.  See album 71!

LIPS LUNCHEON.  The LIPS luncheon is scheduled for March 13 at 10:30AM.  The theme is “Peace and Relaxation.”  The speaker will be Deacon Gonzalez.  More details will follow.
