Homework Help provides after school tutoring
for children and youth in Grades 1 – 12 from
Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in the
Wakefield area of the Bronx and other surrounding
communities. |

Registration
Parents/Guardians must accompany their
child/children to register.
The following times are available for registration:
- Sundays at 9:45 AM and 12:45 PM, beginning
September 7, 2008
- Orientation Night - September 22, 2008, 6PM

 Our Staff
The Executive Committee is comprised of four
members of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Committee member are educators with years of experience
as teachers, professors, and school staff developers.
Executive Committee members also serve as tutors.
The Women’s Guild of Redeemer Evangelical
Lutheran Church prepares and serves healthy food for the
students each tutoring session.
The Tutors also volunteer their time to
give students individualized attention. Currently, our
tutors are members of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran
Church and teacher candidates from the education
department at Concordia College in Bronxville, New
York. They are teachers, teacher assistants, student
teachers, educated professionals and retirees.
The Peer Tutors are students who
demonstrate high achievement in school, possess
leadership skills, and are committed to community
service.
Other Volunteers are members of Redeemer
Evangelical Lutheran Church who monitor a safe
environment and complete administrative duties. |

 Our Facility
The Sanctuary is where the
students and staff gather for devotions.
The Undercroft is a large, multipurpose room
in which the tutoring sessions take place. Furniture
and chairs are arranged to provide a learning
environment appropriate for individualized tutoring.
The Lilac Library offers reading and research
materials for the students and educational resources for
the tutors.
The Wittrock Room houses computers and a
printer. Students have access to word processing
software, CD Encyclopedias, and educational software.
The Lounge is a meeting place for students in
grades 1 – 3. After the students have completed their
assignments, students report to The Lounge for
structured activities led by a Homework Help volunteer.
Our Financial Supporters
A Congregation Hope and Health Grant from Wheat Ridge
Ministries supports our efforts in providing healthy
meals for students participating in Homework Help.
Donations of supplies and tax-deductible donations from
members and friends of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran
Church, local businesses, and banks help to defray
operating expenses of the tutorial ministry.

Information |
| HOMEWORK HELP is a ministry of
Redeemer that provides after school tutoring for
children in Grades 1-12. The ministry targets children
from Redeemer, the Wakefield area in the Bronx, and
other surrounding communities. Dr. Lujuana

Events |
|
LIPS LUNCHEON. The LIPS luncheon is scheduled for
March 13 at 10:30AM. The theme is “Peace and Relaxation.”
The speaker will be Deacon Gonzalez. More details will
follow.
THE GENLTEMEN’S BREAKFAST will be on Saturday, March
20 at 9AM. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.
The speaker for this event is the Honorable Ruben Diaz,
President of the Borough of the Bronx. |
