I just viewed the recent photos in the Picture Gallary of Redeemer's LEGS interacting with Wartburg residents. What a magnificent and loving way of serving others. May the Lord continue to be with Redeemer and her LEGS.

The Sunday School program Promise remembered, covenant kept will long be remembered as a beautiful witness to the living Christ. Both children and adults were a gleaming example of our Lord's love. May all continue to enjoy His blessings. Love you all, Pastor's Mom.

What a wonderful web site. I too go back  to Sunday School with Mrs. Baal at the movie theatre on white Plains Rd. and Pastor Haupt.  I have very fond memories of Redeemer.   At one point we had an assistant Rev. Gene Killion who taught at Concordia Prep. A few 'guests' names were familiar.  Did you know they had pins made at the time of the new church that read'I was here in 1950'?

I found Moms when we closed up her house. I now belong to Bethlehem Lutheran in Ridgewood, NJ along with two other Redeemerites.  We turn up everywhere.  Will check in on your site frequently.  My sister found your new site and suggested I take a look.  Hope to visit soon.  My last visit was shortly after my aunts funeral about 10 years ago.
Keep up the good work.

So happy to see you are thriving unlike many city churches.

Greetings in Christ to all. I am always impressed everytime I visit this site. It is not only an honor to know that I grew up in this church, but a pleasure to see how much it has grown in stature and the size of the congregation over the years. Unfortunately, I live many, many miles away currently and not fortunate enough to be there in person, however, I keep the congregation, the church, and Pastor Taylor in my thoughts and prayers consistently.

Many blessings and peace be unto all of you. In Christ's name.
I send my love (via the world wide web -- wow, how far we have come) to all :-)
God bless you.

Redeemer website is awesome! I think it's a wonderful idea. I am a member of Redeemer two year now. I do not get to too many of the services, outings or activities. This is a way of me to get update on what's going on at Redeemer. I've also visited the Picture Gallery and I saw a lot of familiar faces including my own. I was not there for Pastor Wittrock Crossing celebration but on the website I was able to share in that special moment.

Thank you Redeemer, We are so blessed.

I too was a member of the congregation during the 60's though 1982, when I moved out of Wakefield and into the Southern States.

Your website is AWESOME.  What a treat to see all of the changes and updates in our little church!

Redeemer also served as a point of historical significance.  It was used in the filming of one of the most prominent motion pictures of our time.  Namely, the film, "Love Story" starring Ryan O'Neil and Ali McGraw.  (Do you recall the phrase..."Love means never having to say your sorry"?)  In the film, O'Neil visits McGraw while she is conducting choir practice.  Its but a brief part of the film, yet should be remembered as a chapter of Redeemers history.

Congrats on your growth and continued enthusiasm.  I look forward to checking back from time to time for updates and announcements....

My most joyous greetings to Pastor Taylor and all of the members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. I came across your web site this afternoon, while I was surfing the internet and watching NCAA basketball. In looking at your site, I quickly became engrossed in it and forgot about the games. My heart is overjoyed that Redeemer is still alive and well. My name is Dick Hetzel and I am a former member of Redeemer. My life at Redeemer started in 1946 as a youngster. It was in the old church, which was moved up to Putnam Lake, NY. I was confirmed by Pastor Haupt in 1949. I remember attending church at the Wakefield Theater during the construction of the present church. I do not know if you are aware that there were two construction projects to build the church. The first project built the main church structure and the second project in the sixties added the 3 floors of the office wing. Shortly after confirmation, my life of church service started as an usher at the 8:30 service. I gradually became involved with the Voters Assembly. I left Redeemer in the seventies when I moved up to the White Plains area. I served in various positions of the Voters Assembly, including the two call committees, which called Pastor Heitner and Pastor Wittrock. I wish to fill in some church history. Redeemer called the Rev. Donald Heitner around 1963 and Pastor Heitner served Redeemer until 1968. Pastor Wittrock was called in 1968 and installed in January 1969. I was president of the Voters Assembly when Pastor Wittrock was installed and I am again overjoyed that he served your church until, what I assume was his retirement in 2000. I am now retired and living in North Carolina. Rest assured that I will be visiting your site and refreshing many good memories. It is good to see that the Lord is still with Redeemer and that the members of Redeemer are doing the Lord’s work. May the Lord always be with you. Dick Hetzel

How wonderful to discover Redeemer's extrodinary web site. I grew up in the Wakefield section of the Bronx. Redeemer was my church and the center of many wonderful experiences. I sang in the Junior choir. Attended Sunday School from 1952 to 1964. Was confirmed in 1960 by Pastor Haupt. Sang in the Youth Choir from 1960 until 1964. Cheered for the basketball teams when they played at Our Savior and Concordia. And was active in Walther League. What wonderful things the current congregation is involved in. God bless you in your future endeavors.

I'm familiar with your church through Pastor Wittrock, who served my church, Resurrection, Flushing, when I was a child.
