SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES MEET at 9:30AM for breakfast and 9:45AM for classes. Be sure
to join us since we have classes for ages 3 through
123! Our Sunday School is supporting a local mission
for the remainder of 2008. We are contributing to Dr.
Dawn Kirnon’s organization that purchases gifts for
children with terminal diseases and children of parents
with terminal diseases. This directly relates to our
“Witness” curriculum.
IF YOU WANT TO JOIN REDEEMER, NOTE THAT THE ADULT
CATECHUMENATE HAS BEGUN. If you are not baptized,
not confirmed, not receiving Holy Communion or not a
member of Redeemer, please speak with Catechist
Cruz-Molina or Pastor about joining the Catechumenate.
Now is the time. The group meets in the vestry. Speak
with an usher to ask for directions to that room if you
do not know where that is. Get serious about the faith
and get grounded in the Word. The Rite of
Acceptance—the formal step—is on November 29-30, so be
sure to get started today.
THE POST-CATECHUMENATE CLASS has begun. The theme
is “Prayer” and it is led by Dr. LuJuana Butts. Please
feel free to speak with her if you have any questions
about it. This class meets in the rear portion of the
nave of the church on Sundays at 9:45AM.

Information |
THE CATECHUMENATE meets Sundays
between the morning Liturgies. It is intended for adults
who are not yet baptized, not yet confirmed, or may not
yet be members of Redeemer but want to be. The
Catechumenate is a means for preparing adults for full
participation in the Body of Christ. It includes
discussion of the Liturgy, Lutheranism, Christian faith
and doctrine, Church history, and practical guides for
the daily devotional life. Pastor Taylor leads
the Catechumenate and is assisted by Ms. Rosa
Cruz-Molina.
THE SUNDAY SCHOOL
meets on
Sundays at 9:45AM. Children ages three through high
school learn from qualified and experienced Christian
educators by singing, reading, writing, coloring,
constructing crafts, and conversing as they experience
our Lord’s great love for us. Ms. Carol Sandblom
is Redeemer’s Director of Religious Education. She also
coordinates our summer Vacation Bible School for
children, youth and adults.
A SUNDAY ADULT BIBLE FORUM meets on
Sundays at 9:50AM. Adults gather to explore books of the
Bible, discussing the historical situations of each text
and contemporary applications. This group meets
upstairs in the Gold Room. Mr. Robert Jones
leads this discussion.
HOMEWORK HELP is a ministry of Redeemer that
provides after school tutoring for children in Grades
1-12. The ministry targets children from Redeemer, the
Wakefield area in the Bronx, and other surrounding
communities. Dr. Lujuana Butts and Ms.
Jeanette Van Duyne serves as co-directors of
Homework Help. |
